Furnishings Mood Board
The style of this room is casual, traditional with modern influences. The Carlisle 2-Piece Sectional with Chaise from Pottery Barn in a Sierra Red Twill fabric has a slim, tailored profile, deep cushions and traditional English rolled arms. The Berwick Chair from Ethan Allen, with its grand scrolled arms and cane sides and back, exemplify clean design and attention to details. The Calvin Armoire is also from Ethan Allen with a traditional style, as well as, the glass top, Prentice Cocktail Table from Overstock.com.
Since the primary function of this family room is casual entertainment and television viewing, the Ethan Allen Armoire which houses the TV becomes the focal point, placed on the wall next to the door to the laundry room. Then the Sectional with Chaise placed on the opposite wall is the perfect distance away for TV viewing, and the Berwick Chair in the corner adds extra seating when entertaining. The coffee table is far enough away from the sofa to allow for legroom, but not too far away either (about 15-20 inches).

These are two Digital Renderings of your space in 3D to help give you a spatial feel for your room. Although the room is carpeted, I decided to add a second layer with an area rug to add a sense of warmth to the space and bring more color and texture into the room. I like the drapes from the ceiling to the floor, even though the windows are not that tall—it makes the ceilings seem higher and expands the room. I chose a fairly good size coffee table, but I like that it is a combination of glass, wood and metal. An oversize table contributes more to a room in terms of both function and aesthetics, and this one isn't too heavy for the space.

The color palette is warm with spice tone accents. Use Sherwin Williams Jalapeno SW 6629 Flat Finish on the north facing Accent Wall. Paint the other three Walls with Sherwin Williams Honied Whited SW7106 Flat Finish. Paint the Trim using Pure White SW7005 Semi-Gloss Finish and the Ceiling Flat Finish. The color orange relates to social communication, stimulating two way conversations. A warm and inviting color, it’s both physically and mentally stimulating, so it gets people thinking and talking! This is the perfect color for a room where you plan to entertain and socialize with family and friends.
Artwork & Accessories
The vivid colors and details of the Antik Vasque Poster Print by Diana Thiry, the funky faux bois mirror by Stray Dog Designs and the metal art work from Grandinroad.com, all add color and texture to the room. The Linden green Pillows on the sectional sofa add the perfect contrast and they tie in with the Soho Area Rug in Beige and Rust. The pottery from West Elm and glass vase from Cyan Design are the final touches. Accent pieces to display on the shelves or on top of the armoire.
From AmericanBlinds.com order Acordia Light Filtering Cellular Shades, as the first layer on all four windows. 66W X 46H (IM), 30W X 70H (OM), 25W X 35H (IM) X2.
