Susan's Dining Room

Furnishings Mood Board

The style of this space is a mix of traditional with contemporary. The Toscana Buffet from Pottery Barn, Lancaster Sideboard and Taverna Dining Table from Crate and Barrel and all have a rustic, Tuscan charm, with hand-distressing and casual warmth. While the Thomas Arm-Chairs and Klismos Side-Chairs from Ethan Allen are more modern with clean lines and graceful tapered legs.

Floor Plan

The dining table is centered in the room under the chandelier, along the east-side of the room, leaving an open pathway from the kitchen to the family room and living room. I've placed Arm chairs on the ends of the dining table and Side Chairs, three on each side of the table. There’s a Buffet on the far wall that is topped by a painting and flanked by two wall sconces for some extra task lighting. The Sideboard sits on the opposite wall between the two wall openings. There’s a marvelous large area rug under the table and chairs that helps create a cohesive look.

Paint Scheme

The color palette is warm and spicy. Use Sherwin Williams Ramie SW6156 Flat Finish on the Walls. Paint the Trim with Sherwin Williams Honied White SW7106 Satin Finish and the Ceiling with Flat Finish. If you decide to do the DIY project "Different Chairs, Same Color", paint the chairs with Jalapeno SW6629 Semi-Gloss Finish. The color orange is stimulating to the appetite. If you love having people around the table, orange is a warm and inviting color that will stimulate conversation and keep them eating for a long time.

Artwork & Accessories

The beautiful 8 X 11 Area Rug in earth tones is a work of art on the floor. The Cyan Design Singapore Vase from Noya Décor is the perfect accent to sit on the buffet. The Mixed Media Canvas by Angele Sage is modern, but still reflects the warmth and traditional feel of the space with the earth tone colors. The Mathew Williams Mata Candlesticks are made of hand forged metal by Noya Décor and will look great in the corner on the other side of the doorway opposite the buffet.
