How We Work With Contractors to Ensure a Smoother Project

Providing Clear, Detailed Plans

We start by supplying contractors with comprehensive, detailed drawings, reducing the need for back-and-forth questions and last-minute changes. These drawings are compiled into a project binder and kept on-site for easy access by subcontractors. By handling the heavy lifting upfront, we help prevent costly mistakes and delays during construction.

Sourcing Fixtures and Finishes

Décor Revolution takes the lead in sourcing and procuring fixtures, finishes, and furnishings, while the contractor focuses on construction materials. This clear division of responsibilities keeps the project organized and ensures that selections align with the overall design vision.

Preventing Errors Before They Happen

Design is in the details, and small missteps can lead to big frustrations. We ensure that everything—from showerhead height to outlet placement—is thoughtfully planned and documented in the design book. Some examples include:

🔹 Specifying exact installation heights (e.g., “This showerhead should be installed at X inches.”)
🔹 Ensuring outlets are integrated seamlessly (e.g., horizontal outlets in 8” baseboards or hidden inside cabinetry rather than placed in a tile backsplash).
🔹 Coordinating all design elements—fixtures, finishes, window treatments, and accessories—to create a cohesive, polished space.

To support smooth execution, we also provide spec sheets for all selected materials, so contractors have the necessary details at their fingertips.

Enhancing Communication & Client Experience

A designer’s involvement significantly improves the contractor-client relationship. Instead of overwhelming the client with constant decisions—such as where to place a towel bar—the contractor can turn to us. We act as a liaison between the builder and client, ensuring the client is informed without being bogged down by every small detail.

We recommend weekly meetings with the client, designer, and contractor to review progress and address any new considerations. Between meetings, contractors can reach out to us directly with questions, allowing the project to move forward efficiently.

Why Early Involvement Matters

Ideally, Décor Revolution should be involved as soon as the As-Built or Architectural Drawings are completed—if not earlier. Designers offer valuable insights on layout and functionality, ensuring that spaces are optimized for both aesthetics and lifestyle.

Before structural drawings are finalized, we:
🔹 Review and refine floor plans—adjust door swings, reconfiguring layouts, and identifying opportunities for added functionality (e.g., a built-in desk space).
🔹 Redline plans to prevent design conflicts before they require costly changes later in construction.

By integrating design expertise from the start, we help create a seamless, stress-free process—resulting in a home that is as functional as it is beautiful.
