Free Home Makeover for a Well Deserving Family

I am so excited to let you know about the free home makeover that I am just starting to work on for a single Mom who has survived homelessness, Cajhmone, and her two children; daughter, (10 years old), and son, (6 years old); with a baby girl on the way.

Cajhmone was forced to shut down her small jewelry and accessory business during the pandemic and the family was living in their car or occasional motels for a while.  As sole provider she struggled to balance schooling her children virtually during the lockdown and making sure the family had everything they needed resulting in her depleting her only savings. She finally reached out to Family Promise of the Verdugos, and they were able to assist her with a new apartment to live in and intensive case management.  But the apt is not a home…and this is where we get to step in!

The statistics are overwhelming that the percentage of people without furnished homes end up homeless again versus those who have furnished homes.  It shows you that putting time and love into your space makes a difference!

I was invited by design blogger, Emily Henderson, and I have partnered up with Pen+Napkin, a non-profit founded by Catie Bouchard, to decorate Cajhmone’s new apt. I feel so fortunate to be able to use my creative talents to help give this family a comfy sofa and some nice bedding and window treatments to furnish and decorate a home for them, when they are dealing with the trauma of homelessness and trying to heal.

You can help too!!  We’ve set a financial goal for our project for this family, and we are on a tight budget.  We appreciate any contributions all of you are willing to make. They are tax deductible through the Pen + Napkin site.  We will also be setting up two wish lists in the next week through Target and Amazon with lots of items that we would like to use to furnish and decorate Cajhmone’s apartment.  We would be so grateful if you would be willing to purchase any of those items as a donation to this project.  As I said, I am just getting started, but will have the wish lists up in about a week and will let you all know how you can help soon.  Thank you so much in advance for your support!!
