In 2020, Governor Newsom passed several bills that reduced the restrictions on building ADUs. California Legislature has now enacted more bills that reduce even more restrictions on building ADUs and make it easier for people to get their plans through the permitting process. Local agencies must update their ADU ordinances and abide by these new laws that were passed on Jan 1, 2023.

One of my favorite client’s is crazy for color and pattern, which I love about her. She is so much fun to work with. So, the project was to give her small dining area a refresh and we started by refinishing the table with two different finishes. We used a beautiful oyster finish on the legs and apron of the table and kept the existing cherry finish on the table top. The top was damaged though, so it needed to be repaired. Then we matched the finish on the dining chairs to the legs on the table.
After that came the selection of the really fun fabrics for the chairs…

I designed the cabinets to be two-toned with most of them in this soft sage green that is so versatile. It exudes a calm energy. It’s neutral and thanks to its cool undertones, the verdant shade serves all the room’s possibilities.
